Hotel Classification
Identification of the Technical/Operational Specifications and Rating Critera for Hotels and their Classification in “Stars”.
Operation Licences of Hotels that have been issued under the current Legal Framework, cease immediately to be in effect in 31/12/2017.
Until that date, all Hotels are required to obtain the new Classification Certificate under the New Legal Framework (M.D. 216 – GG 10/B-09/01/2015)
Hotels are obliged to be classified in 5 different star categories based on the following table:
Star Class |
5***** | 4**** | 3*** | 2** | 1* |
Minimum amount of points based on Optional grade able criteria. | 5500 | 4000 | 3200 | 2200 |
1500 |
The minimum number of points is identified through optional gradeable criteria that are required for the classification.
In all situations and classes the Obligatory criteria must be fulfilled.
For the classification of Hotels, for which the Architectural blue prints approval has been published, under the terms of the previous legislation (P.D. 43/2002 – GG 43 A’) the obligatory technical specifications are not evaluated. Only the collection of the minimum required points for each category is evaluated.
Alternatively, the facility owner may ask for the classification of the hotel according to the total of technical and operational specifications and gradeable criteria without the previous approval of the amended Architectural Blueprints.
Specially for Hotels, under the New Legal Framework, a big increase in total rating is expected when there are Certified Management Systems based on the following table:
